Hello!

My name is Uriel Gavito, and I’m a filmmaker turned fusion dance instructor, blending years of creative experience with a deepening commitment to spiritual growth.
I’m currently based in the Rio Grande Valley, where I’m cultivating new communities around dance, mindfulness, and meaning. For nearly a decade, I’ve worked professionally in film — directing, shooting, editing, and producing all kinds of video content: documentaries, music videos, commercials, fashion shoots, and short films.
I earned a B.S. in Radio-Television-Film from the University of Texas at Austin, and was honored as a State Finalist in the 2019 UIL Young Filmmakers of Texas, later receiving the Roderick P. Hart Award for my screenwriting.
But filmmaking led me somewhere unexpected: inward. From 2024 - 2025, I immersed myself in the study and practice of Bhakti Yoga. I lived with monks in ashrams across India and the United States, where I practiced devotion, service, and meditation. This journey opened a new path: one that took another turn... partner dancing!
You see I discovered partner dance in college, but after my spiritual journey, I realized it's profound possibility to transform and heal people's lives if they bring that intention to it. To me, Dance is not just a hobby or an outlet for expression, but a spiritual practice.
Today, I teach fusion partner dance as a way to reconnect with the present moment, our intuition, and the sacredness of shared movement. My classes are rooted in improvisation, awareness, and a deep respect for the power of the body to transform.
Whether through film, dance, or devotion, I aim to create spaces where people can return to themselves — more grounded, more inspired, and more alive. If you feel called to collaborate, move, or create together, I’d love to connect.
Education
2019-2023
University of Texas at Austin
Radio-Television-Film
My education at UT Austin is one characterized by experiential learning. I studied a semester in Madrid, Spain, learning resilience and filmmaking in another country. I navigated Covid-19 by transmuting it into an opportunity to learn remote working skills, where I led a team to create an animated project sponsored by a professional screenwriter.

Finally I have been a part of dozens of filmmaking projects, which have given me the beautiful opportunity to fail over and over again. And there is no teacher quite as powerful as failure! With this wealth of knowledge and experience, I am equipped to tackle any creative challenge.
